With the CareHQ app, you’re only a few taps away from a virtual GP consultation. We help connect you with trusted medical care, quickly — 7 days a week, 7 am-9 pm.

CareHQ is a virtual consultation service that provides Kiwis of all ages with a convenient and easy-to-use virtual consultation with an experienced New Zealand General Practitioner (GP) – when they can’t see their regular GP and need an appointment now or after-hours.

CareHQ provides the following GP-based services.

Adult and Child medical care

The CareHQ doctor who sees you has gone through extensive medical training to equip her or him to help children and adults of all ages with a range of physical and emotional difficulties. A CareHQ GP can help treat most medical needs, sicknesses or injuries from a common cold, contraceptive options or concerns, migraines, repeat scripts for your pharmacy through to acne, health counseling, and off-work certificates. In short, most things youd normally see a GP for.

Injury Management

CareHQ GPs can review and sign off a return-to-work assessment for injured employees, getting them back to work as quickly as possible.

International Visitor and Student

For visitors to New Zealand, who are not enrolled in practice and are far from an urgent care facility, CareHQ can provide medical support. They can create an NHI, provide a prescription, or refer to a specialist.

Repeat Prescriptions

That’s just one of the reasons why CareHQ is so convenient. At your GP consultation, we will send your prescription to your preferred pharmacy.

There may be some circumstances when we are unable to provide a prescription for a medication in a virtual consultation due to New Zealand regulations.

Lab Tests

CareHQ GPs can refer you for lab tests if they think it appropriate. For complex health issues that are ongoing, and you have been seeing your enrolled GP clinic about, your CareHQ GP may ask you to reach out to your GP clinic for continuity of care and safety.

Minor Accident Care

CareHQ GPs can deal with most minor accident care. If they are not able to deal with an injury or think the injury needs an in-person visit, they will refer to the appropriate service.

CareHQ is made possible by:

• Southern Cross Health Insurance – a not-for-profit organization and New Zealand’s largest health insurance provider

• ProCare – New Zealand’s largest cooperative of family doctors (GPs), nurses, and general practice
